Design

  • Agrément Certified Titan Cesspools are factory sealed units delivered direct to site, ready for immediate installation - often completed in a day. Manufactured in Glass Reinforced Plastic, these strong watertight structures have a long maintenance free life

  • Simple on-site fitting of the access shaft together with integral lifting eyes minimise the site handling problems often experienced with tanks of this size. The inlet fitting can be rotated 360º, thereby offering maximum flexibility in drainage layout. Titan Cesspools comply with BS 6297 1983 and the relevant Building Regulations.

  • All these features add up to a cost effective solution to what can be a difficult drainage problem for contractor and specifier alike.

Model Selection

This chart should only be taken as a general guide. Smaller cesspools for non-domestic applications are now available.

Capacity

For a single dwelling 18000 litres (4000 gallons) is the minimum allowable capacity. For non-domestic applications refer to Titan for advice on the capacity of tank required.

Grade

Standard duty tanks are suitable for up to 1, drain invert. Heavy duty tanks are suitable for up to 1.5m drain invert. For inverts in excess of 1.5m advice should be sought from the company.

Installation

The following factors should be considered when choosing a site for the tank.

  • The site should be a minimum of 15 metres from the nearest habitable dwelling, and the tank should either be vented independently or back through the house drainage system.

  • Emptying vehicles should have access to within 35 metres of the tank

  • A site which is subjected to traffic loading should be avoided.

Detailed instructions are supplied with each unit.

Cesspool installations are particularly susceptible to buoyancy. For this reason they are normally backfilled with concrete

In a dry, well drained site, however, the tank should be completely backfilled with pea shingle, on a level concrete base.

In a wet, poorly drained site, the tank should be bedded onto a carpet of pea shingle which itself is laid on a 150mm thick concrete base. It should then be backfilled with concrete filling the tank with water at the same time to prevent flotation. Ground water pumping may well be necessary.

Full illustrations are provided in Data Sheet 20.

Pumped Systems

The advice in this sales literate is by necessity brief. For more detailed technical literature and drawing regarding applications, installation maintenance or specific options, please contact Titan. We have both internal and field sales staff who will be pleased to assist.

Silage Effluent Tanks

Manufactured using special chemically resistant resins, these tanks are one piece factory sealed and tested units of the same dimensions as cesspools. Delivered direct to the farm they can be off-loaded using ordinary farm handling equipment and usually installed within a day. Regulations relate the minimum capacity of the tank required to the solo capacity as follows:

These capacities will normally provide at least 2 day storage at peak flow. Allowance should be made, however, if the silo is open to rain water.

Other Products

Titan manufactures a wide range of pollution control equipment including Septic Tanks, Cesspools, Pumpsets, Grease Traps, Patrol/Oil Separators and Biotec Package Sewage Treatment Plant.
